Those planning to visit the rest of Thailand will have to stay for at least two weeks, during which they will be free to roam the island, where preparations include a large part of the local population being vaccinated for COVID-19. Can book short stays en route to other countries.
The “Phuket Sandbox” program is open to visitors from 63 countries and three regions that Thailand has rated as low or medium risk for COVID-19. Requirements beyond nationality are more complex and involve a fair amount of paperwork, in addition to being subject to change.

Visas are not required for stays of up to 30 days for many nationalities. Airlines with direct flights to Phuket include Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, El Al and Singapore Airlines.
Basic requirements before departure for Phuket include:
– Must have lived in the approved home country for at least 21 days prior to departure.
– Must obtain a certificate of entry from the Thai Embassy or Consulate.
– Must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before departure. (Travellers under the age of 18 accompanied by a parent or guardian are exempt from the vaccination requirement.)
Must have a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 within 72 hours of departure. (Required also for passengers under 18)
Must have a minimum $100,000 medical insurance policy covering COVID-19 treatment.
– Must have RT-PCR test for COVID-19 on the day of arrival, 6th or 7th day of stay and 12th or 13th day at their own cost.
-Onboard travel to Thailand must stay for 14 days in approved “SHA+” hotels. Bookings must be confirmed prior to arrival. SHA+ certifies to safety and health standards, which include immunization of at least 70% of employees for COVID-19.
-Install Thailand Plus and Morchana App respectively to track health and location.
-Proof of negative COVID-19 test result during 14 days stay for onward travel to other parts of Thailand.
