Wimbledon, England – Latest on Wimbledon (all time local):
Federer will be hoping to emulate the Swiss football team’s victory in the European Championship when he plays a late match on center court. This time, however, the Swiss victory won’t be much of a nuisance. Federer has won his last 17 matches against French opponents and also has a 10-match winning streak against Gasquet.
Federer also faced a French opponent in the first round and was in danger of losing before Adrian Mannarino retired with a knee injury in the fifth set.
Also on the men’s schedule is number 2-seeded Daniil Medvedev, who plays wild card Carlos Alcaraz.
On the women’s side, top-ranked Ash Barty will take first on center court to play Anna Blinkova, runner-up in the girls’ singles at Wimbledon in 2015. 17-year-old Coco Gauff will take on Elena Vesnina in another center court match. .
