Diede de Groot has completed her first Golden Slam in wheelchair tennis.

The No. 1 seed of the Netherlands added to that title this year with her victories at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon with the gold medal she won at the Paralympics earlier this month.

She is the first tennis player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four major titles and a gold medal in the same year.

Australia’s Dylan Alcott was looking to repeat the feat in the men’s section later on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic is playing in the final of the US Open for the ninth time and has never been more at stake.

The top-ranked player will complete a calendar-year Grand Slam and achieve a men’s record 21st major title with a win over No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic defeated Medvedev in the final of the Australian Open, then won the French Open and Wimbledon. He is trying to be the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four Grand Slams in the same year.

If he does, Djokovic will break the tie with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most major titles among men.

Djokovic is on 3-5 in the US Open final. His nine appearances are the most in the professional era, dating from 1968.

Medvedev is trying to win his maiden Grand Slam title, losing to Nadal in his first attempt in the final of the 2019 US Open.

Also on Sunday, American teens Coco Gauff and Katy McNeely will look to win their first Grand Slam doubles title against the team of Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai.
