How do you prioritize your mental health and feel balanced?
Working for me is big. I feel a big change in my mood and getting those endorphins makes me feel like I’m taking care of myself. A big part of my self-care is going to the gym or doing yoga or going on a hike, doing a Pilates video on YouTube, just trying to make sure that I am in some way every day Transferring my body.
But this therapy is also really big for me, and it’s something I’ve discovered over the years that really makes me feel balanced. Someone to check in with – someone who is not in my immediate circle – who is there to help and some kind of guidance. I am actually partnering with a non-profit organization called Beam, Which is truly incredible and focused on obtaining medical and mental health care for the Black community. They are going to have a summit in May that I am hosting that I am really excited about, just about raising awareness and stigmatizing mental health care within the black community. It’s definitely a big part of something I’m passionate about.
Do you get pleasure
Being outside, as long as I cry with my friends, my puppy Eta, my family, I feel like I am doing something bigger than myself and hopefully will represent people who will be represented on screen Not much has been seen. I like to do what I do. Sea, nature … all that stuff [laughs].
There is a lot of discussion nowadays about the importance of establishing boundaries, does it mean to give yourself space or to refrain from overcoming yourself. Is that something you do?
Yes, I am trying. It really resonates with me because I am actively trying to do this. I’m definitely someone who wants to show to people, and I hope Does Show for the people and be a lot. But I also had to learn that if you are not showing for yourself, you cannot show people. You cannot be for others if you are not taking care of yourself completely, because then you are just walking empty and you are handing over to someone who is also empty. So I feel like I’m really trying to be aware of taking care of my own mental health and do the things that make me feel full, so I can help others feel full . I think my mother is a great example of this because she is so self-sacrificing and therefore giving to others, but also, in herself, an incredible person. So I’m really trying to take that kind of example and move away from it.
Are you working on clarins with it Total eye lift Eye cream campaign. Where does skincare fit into your self-care routine?
Skincare has always been something that was really important to me since I was an early teenager. I have just learned that as I get older, the more I am investing in my skin, it just makes me feel better all around and realizes that I am investing in myself. I have really learned its importance over the last year and through the epidemic. It is a difficult time for everyone, and I realize when I am taking those moments for myself and investing in my skincare and making masks and making sure that I am using my eyes I’m using the cream and doing all the serums, so I would feel better, honestly.
And I think it’s a very small thing because on the one hand we can be, “Oh, it’s just skincare and it’s vanity and it’s superficial,” but at the same time, it’s not really, because it’s a lifelong thing. is. Now the love you are putting on your face is literally your face for the rest of your life. And I think this is the moment to reflect and sit with myself. You mentioned doing YouTube Pilates. Any recommendations?
I honestly do a lot right now Pop physics Workout. They are really great and quick, and they have 20 minutes to make me feel like I’ve got something. Has therapy given you any kind of takeaway that helps you put things in perspective?

Therefore you cannot sacrifice yourself to love others.
Do you have a secret to feeling confident?
Confidence is something that I struggle with every day. We are living in such a bizarre society where it is continuous compared to other people and this continuous show of someone’s life is not a real, real picture. And I think it’s important to remember, when you go into those holes and compare and there is self doubt and insecurity, that everyone is struggling with their things and everyone gets to those places. And what we are seeing on Instagram is not real life at all.
And finally, what is the best advice given to you?
Steve McQueen, the director, who was the first person I worked with in Drama School even then, told me that “you can be anything, you just don’t be boring” just take it for granted, that’s all Always have full expression of yourself. I think when people find it boring or whatever, it’s just because they don’t live fully in their truth. So I just try to say that you exist, be yourself and don’t be afraid to grow up and be loud and express yourself fully to the person you are.
