The Yankees and Mets are both set to host doubleheaders in New York after the game was postponed due to inclement weather on Wednesday night.
The Yankees will play in the Bronx twice from Toronto, and they will do it without 2020 big league home run leader Luke Voight, who is headed for the injured list with a right oblique strain. Voight is hitting .182 with a homer in 12 games after missing the start of the season after surgery to heal a torn meniscus in his left knee during spring training.
In addition, the Yankees’ right-hander Corey Kluber is expected to miss at least two months following an injury injury to the pitching shoulder on Tuesday.
The Mets will play two games against the Rockies with a major league-high 17 players on the injured list. Fourth-string center fielder Joneshvi Fargas became the most recent player to join IL on Wednesday when he sprained his left AC joint in an attempt to take a catch on Monday.
Alex Wood (5-1, 1.93 era) pitched for the San Francisco Giants against his former team in the first match of a four-match series at Dodger Stadium. Wood spent more than three seasons with the Dodgers from 2015–14, earning an All-Star, and last year Los Angeles won the World Series. He faced his old teammates last Friday and lost 2–1 to Trevor Bauer as the Dodgers embarked on a three-game weekend sweep in San Francisco. Both teams are at the top of the NL West standings. Los Angeles’ eight-match winning streak ended with a 5–2 loss to Houston on Wednesday night.
Shohe Ohtani (1-0, 2.37 era) made his seventh start of the season for the Los Angeles Angels in the first match of a four-match series in Oakland. At the plate, the two-way star is batting .270 with 15 homers, 38 RBI and six stolen bases. Chris Bassitt (4-2, 3.69) takes the ball for athletics. He scored just two runs in 7 2/3 innings defeating the Angels on Saturday in Anaheim.
Right-handers Sunny Gray (0-3, 3.96 ERA) and Stephen Strasburg (1-1, 4.11 ERA) when the Reds and Nationals closed their three-match series in Washington. Gray is 0-1 for Cincinnati with a 2.78 era starting May 4. Strasburg made his second start after returning from a swelling of the right shoulder. He pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings in Washington’s 4–2 win over Baltimore on Friday.

Former New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway has been suspended for at least the end of the 2022 season following an investigation into sexual harassment allegations by Major League Baseball.
Soon after the announcement of the penalty by MLB on Wednesday, the Angels said they had fired Callaway, the team’s pitching coach, since October 2019. The club suspended him on 2 February at the start of the MLB investigation.
Commissioner Rob Manfred did not release details about the MLB’s investigation, but said in a statement, “I have concluded that Mr. Callaway has violated MLB’s policies, and that appointment on the ineligible list is necessary.”
In a report published on 1 February, The Athletic said Callaway “aggressively chased” several women working in sports media and sent inappropriate photos to three of them.
