Lizzo Got the juice this summer.
On Monday, the 33-year-old shared several photos of herself wearing a Kente fabric patterned bikini by Ashanti Swimwear, a UK-based swimwear brand owned by Black. She also included a video in which she posed for fans in bright green sunglasses.
She captioned the post, “Big GRRL Summer has begun, you have been warned.”
Celebrity friends like Kerry Washington used the fire emoji to describe the heat with their photos of the “Truth Hurts” songstress. Fans were also taking to the comments to praise the singer’s summer glow.
“This is unattainable confidence for me!!!!!!” One fan wrote.
“You look incredible,” said someone.
“Hot big girl summer thunder!” Another person added.
“I know that’s right,” one commenter continued.
In another video wearing the same bikini, Lizzo announced, “This is a public service announcement. Big girls summer has officially started and big girls, we have abs… I know you see it.” are, ‘fabs.’
Although she expresses confidence in a lot of her social media posts, she has also been open about her body confidence journey. In an interview with 2019 CBS Sunday Morning, she admitted that gaining confidence was not easy.
“It’s not something you really change,” she said. “It’s something you address and work on. I had to address every layer of insecurity. Because I can’t be like, ‘Okay, my hand isn’t crooked and lumpy anymore’—that’s the illusion. You should be like, ‘She’s not ugly to me anymore, and it’s not wrong to me, she’s beautiful to me.’ And I guess that’s why I’m able to call myself fat, and people are like, ‘No!’ Even my friends. And I’m like, ‘B***h, you know I’m fat.’ I’m like, ‘Don’t say no. I’m fat, I’m beautiful.’ I guess it’s because I really learned to look all my insecurities in the face, call them by their names and fall in love with them.”
