Amazon says it will no longer test job seekers for marijuana use
The company, the second largest private employer in the US after Walmart, is making changes as states legalize cannabis or introduce laws prohibiting employers from testing it.
Amazon said in a blog post that it would still test workers for other drugs and conduct “harm checks” on the job. And the company said some roles may still require cannabis testing in line with Department of Transportation regulations.
Seattle-based Amazon also said on Tuesday that it would support federal legalization of marijuana by pushing lawmakers to pass the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Removal Act of 2021.
