Rothenberg’s Grand Slam to Duke in first innings FSU 12-1. Sends by

Michael Rothenberg hit his second career Grand Slam in a five-run first inning and No. 9-seeded Duke defeated fifth-seed Florida State 12–1 for their ninth consecutive win in the ACC tournament.

Duke (30-20) faces Miami in a pool-play game on Thursday and Florida State (29-23) plays Hurricanes on Friday.

Rothenberg started in the third and scored with a 6–0 lead on Graham Pauly’s single. Erikson Nichols added an RBI single in the three-run fifth and a two-run homer in the three-run ninth.

Rothenberg also hit a Grand Slam against Notre Dame in the 2019 ACC tournament.

Duke starter Billy Seidle (4-0) hit a six and gave up just three hits in 3 1/3 innings. Florida State starter Bryce Hubbart (6-5) scored two runs and conceded four in the first without a dismissal.

Robbie Martin scored his 11th home run of the season for Florida State in the fourth inning. He ended up with two of Florida State’s four hits.
