Top education official from Biden administration visits a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Detroit-area college

Dearborn, Mich. — U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona visited a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at suburban Detroit Community College on Tuesday to highlight the White House’s efforts to encourage similar efforts nationwide.
“We’re talking about how we’re going to recover as a country and everyone’s on deck,” said Cardona at Henry Ford College in Dearborn.
“So this is a great example of how colleges can play their part to get people vaccinated,” he told clinic staff and the news media.
Cardona also spoke about the Biden administration’s COVID-19 College Challenge, in which colleges and universities are committed to working to get their communities vaccinated. The challenge is part of the president Joe BidenBy July 4, 70% of American adults attempt to receive at least one dose of the vaccine.
“We have to continue to redouble our efforts to get people who are a little precarious, uncomfortable. Or maybe we have to bring a vaccine for them,” Cardona said. “I know there are some people who want it, but they have problems with transportation. We are working from every angle to ensure that we get as many shots in the arms of the people as possible.”
